We honour the Indigenous Peoples as the original inhabitants and traditional stewards of the land, specifically of Turtle Island and the Bowl In The Water. We work with many Nations across the world. We denounce colonized terms for states, cities, peoples, continents, celebrations and Nature as oppressive means to silence and erase Indigenous and other original land based cultures.
We honour the African Peoples as wise and autonomous beings. Who were tricked and stolen from their HomeLand in the largest forced migration in global story, totaling over 111 million along with the same amount dying before arrival. Who were further trafficked into slavery to build, through labour and ingenuity, a colonial nation on Turtle Island for European conquistadors. Who sought out a cheap labour force that was easily identifiable to deforest wildlands into farms and cities. This free, forced labour allowed European settlers to declare independence from England, becoming a domineering force in the global exporting market.
When the importation of Africans for servitude was outlawed European settlers began breeding Africans or African-Europeans through sexual assault (handmaids) and implementing the one drop rule. Where anyone born with at least one drop of African blood was stripped of their humanity. Slavery and the continued suppression of African lives remain legal, money generating activities. Advocating for and protecting African liberation is punishable by law and deemed a mental illness.
Throughout story all ethnicities including European settlers have supported in, advocated for and protected African and Indigenous liberation. What have you done? What are your Moonly liberatory practices? Do you offer reparations or land taxes?
Learn your families story in how they participated in and uplifted the ideologies of slavery and genocide as we all played a role either directly or in proximity (silence is compliance). By designing and building materials for ships, castles, churches or forts, in manufacturing weapons and chains, in financing conquests, by offering credit, insurance, exchange platforms and other assets essential to colonization. Perhaps they were employed to spin, weave, dye, or package fabrics, or cast and forage metal, or distill the rum and brandy that were traded for human bodies/lives.
ALL Labour & Land Acknowledgement MUST be paired with Action. African liberation depends on receiving reparations as Indigenous sovereignty is woven with LandBack. The Indigenous Dineh People continue to share themselves and their teachings with our Founding Steward. Join our decade strong Indigenous Solidarity, Reparations, and Truth & Reconciliation efforts.
Many of us are guests, willingly or by force, on the land we live. We ask permission to go places, harvest plants and animals, acquire land along with many other routine activities. We inform of our intention for use of natural resources and human labour.
Land Acknowledgement by Council Member Amy (they).

Make no mistake, forms of racial reckoning (LandBack/Rematriation/Repatriation) are the RETURN of stolen, withheld, and/or usurped resources, basic dignities, recognition, and remedies. While we humbly accept these returns, they are NOT donations, gifts or other forms of mutual aide.
Act accordingly.
