I am exploring ways to trust and call upon my Ancestral majick. One way is by learning about African modalities. You may change elements when you transition to your cultural cosmology. Included are resources about astrological signs based on the gregorian calendar. An ancient practice to determine one’s zodiac sign is by gathering three bones and tossing them into the air. How the bones fall into a position signifies one’s astrological sign. The 12 angles of the three bones provided a specific story of one’s zodiac.

How can you share your Ancestral wisdom with your community?

I recently returned my African lore tarot deck to a Roma person. As part of my embodiment of Truth & Reconciliation. The people of Romani, one asked for their cultural tradition back and two, are some of the original stewards of tarot, card divination. In this process of return I became aware of how we take other people’s culture and infuse it with our own stories and images to make it fit us better. Especially how accessible anything is to anyone at any moment while being withheld from its original stewards. Thoughts of assimilation, cultural appropriation, global marketing and capitalist barriers along with love, remembrance, forgiveness, nuance and compassion flooded me.

How are you embodying Truth & Reconciliation?

I am learning to lean into my African divination styles of dreaming and bone casting.

Geomancy is a style of divination from configurations noticed in earth or bone thrown on the ground, or by interpreting lines or textures in natural items cast upon the earth.
